GOOD GONE BAD

‘Good gone bad’ is the subject matter to the work I produce.  I have researched 7 talented photographers below who I have great interest in.  All of them have a great influence on my work and idea’s.  There work having different context but all coming down to things that were good, now gone bad.

JIM GOLDBERG

These images here are two of my favourite from Jim Goldbergs series ‘Raised by wolves’.  The stories from runaway teens living on the streets of San Fransico and Los Angeles is the context of his work.  The tale of their lives of abuse, drugs, prostitution, and of their desires, fears, and loyalties is narrated by means of some 170 photographs.  The form of these photographs are black and white and in most of them handwritten statements by runaways.

RICHARD MISRACH

The form of Richard Misrach’s work is a series of photographs of Desert Cantos, a body of work he has worked on for over 35 years in which he studies the landscape and man’s complex relationship to it.  I love these two images as they relate to my work and suit my theme  ‘good gone bad’ but still you can see the beauty in it.

STEPHEN WILKES

The form of his work is photographs of the south side of Ellis Island. The ruined lanscape of the infectious disease and psychiatric hospital wings, where children and adults alike were detained before they could enter America.  I love these photo’s as they are similar to my own.  I love the grittiness and emptyness to these images. Would love the chance to photograph somewhere like this as i have a great interest in old abandoned buildings.

ANDRES SERRANO

The form of his work large prints of about 20 by 30 inches, which are produced by conventional photographic techniques (as opposed to digital manipulation). He has shot a vast array of subject matter including portraits of KKK, morgue photos, and pictures of burn victims. His method used he went into the New York subways with lights and photographic background paper to portray the bedraggled homeless as art objects, as well as producing some rather tender but sometimes decidedly kinky portraits of couples.  His most recent work uses feces as a medium.

3 OF MY PHOTO’S FROM MODEL SERIES

One of my photo’s from the model making brief.  My method used to create this image is i got s piece of carpet 30 by 30cm, and i burned it and put brown sugar on to give it a gritty look.  These images are quite similar to photographer Andreas Serano’s work.
